Which board has the most workload?

ICSE is usually seen as the most detailed, with more subjects and a heavier English component. CBSE is concept-focused and closely matches the NCERT syllabus used in NEET and JEE. The Tamil Nadu State Board, followed by Matric schools, is more focused on the state's syllabus and public exams. A good school and steady study habits matter more than workload labels.

Three questions to decide

  1. Where will your child study after school? For Tamil Nadu colleges, State Board fits well; for national exams, plan extra NCERT practice on any board.
  2. Will your family move? CBSE and ICSE schools exist across India; Matric schools are in Tamil Nadu.
  3. What total fees can you manage until Class 12? Compare actual schools, including concessions.

Frequently asked questions

Which is better: Matric, CBSE or ICSE?

Each suits different families. Matric suits families settled in Tamil Nadu, CBSE suits families who may move or want an NCERT focus, and ICSE suits children who enjoy detailed, language-rich study.

Which board is easiest?

There is no simple answer. ICSE is usually seen as the most detailed, CBSE as concept-focused, and the Tamil Nadu State Board as focused on its own syllabus and public exams.

Can my child switch boards later?

Yes, many students switch, most often after Class 10. Switching mid-way needs extra effort to cover syllabus gaps.
